Poseidon is committed to providing a secure working environment by protecting its employee, contractors, assets and operations against the risk of injury, loss or damage from criminal, hostile acts.
Poseidon is committed to maintaining a safe and productive workplace and to promoting a free from illicit substances environment.Poseidon considers the control of Drug and Alcohol to be one of the principal areas for attention. No ship’s crew or shore based personnel shall be left unaware of Poseidon’s policy in this respect. The policy is a part of the safety management system.
Poseidon recognizes that smoking is harmful to health and can lead to life threatening respiratory diseases and to addiction. Passive smoking also has a potential to adversely affect the health of employee, subcontractors and third parties who are exposed to it. On top of all, smoking also represents a potential fire hazard on board of Poseidon vessels. Smoking in public places exposes non-smokers to health related hazards and it is our duty to protect all employees from unnecessary exposure to hazards. We encourage a NO SMOKING policy and undertake to inform the personnel about the effects of smoking upon health and to assist the smoking personnel in giving up the habit. Smoking is prohibited inside the vessel including the Instrument room, Engine room, Cabins & all enclosed areas and on hazardous work sites where there is a risk of explosion or fire. In such places, “No smoking” signs must be clearly posted.To reduce the risk, smoking shall only be permitted in designated smoking areas. Smoking areas on board the vessels shall be designated by the Master and approved jointly with the Company’s Management. All designated smoking areas shall be properly marked with signs and shall have ashtrays and sufficient ventilation
